The History of Weavers Morris Dancers
Weavers Morris was formed in 1995 for the purpose of both recreational fun and serious fund raising to support good causes.
Morris Dancing has been around since at least the 15th Century - and some say even earlier.
We dance mainly Cotswold tradition and some of our own.
We wear Gold, Blue and Red Baldricks over White shirts, Black breeches, Blue socks and Black shoes with brightly coloured shoe laces.
Why are we called 'Weavers Morris'?
Well, in the medieval period North Norfolk was once famous for the weaving industry and the symbol for our badge is taken from the emblem of the Weavers Guild - a Lion with a shuttle in it's mouth.
You will see it in the circular panel on the front of our Baldricks (the coloured straps we wear over our shirts).
We practise every Wednesday from September through to May then we are let loose for public entertainment during the summer.
